Valtravieso

The way of elaboration of Valtravieso is based on the maximum care and respect for the grape, obtaining wines that transmit the essence of a very special terroir, unique in the Ribera del Duero.

Soil and vineyard make up a whole. The viticulture with our stony soils and without drip irrigation becomes more complex, more demanding. The wines are made in the vineyard, and that is defined by the VALTRAVIESO philosophy.

Weather

An Atlantic climate, with great thermal contrast between day and night, a very poor stony soil, with superficial clay, active limestone rock and pronounced north sub-plateau of the Central System, favor the perfect sanitary state of the strains, a slow maturation and a perfect alcoholic-phenological balance, which together with certain viticultural work will offer us a high quality raw material necessary for elegant, fresh wines, with excellent structure, mineralization and acidity.

Vineyard

The vineyard of Bodegas Valtravieso is located at 920m above sea level, being the highest vineyard in the D.O. Ribera del Duero.

More than 70 hectares of vineyards in production, which produce more than 80% of the needs, which guarantees the quality and homogeneity of the product over time, affected by the personality of each of the vintages.

Grape varieties

VALTRAVIESO works mainly with the Tinta Fina grape variety, the native grape par excellence of the Denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero, in addition, they have other plots planted with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes with a very low level of pyrazines, which provides structure, freshness, color and concentration to our wines, and the Merlot grape, which provides meatiness, and will complement color, intensity and aromas.

A red wine from Ribera del Duero designed to surprise with its aromas and complexity. It is a wine that has the elegance worthy of a gentleman. A red wine that is conceived from the vineyard to be one of the best aging wines in the Ribera del Duero. The manual selection of the clusters, the elaborations in small deposits, and the aging for 12 months in French oak barrels of selected coopers, make this Valtravieso Crianza an enjoyment for the senses and an ideal wine to eat.

In addition, in Bodegas y Viñedos Valtravieso we always refine our wines a year in the cellar in the winery, so that they reach the market in optimal conditions of enjoyment.

When presented in magnum format (1.5 liters), it is a wine that, if desired, can be preserved in a bottle in good light, temperature and humidity conditions for the next 5 to 10 years, where we can see its positive evolution.
